Michael Keegan-Dolan, Artistic Director of Teaċ Daṁsa is looking for dancers to collaborate on a new project to be made and performed at our studio in An Ghlaise Bheag, Dingle, Ireland for eight weeks from 14 July to 7 September.
I would like to meet dancers to create a dance and theatre performance in our new studio beside the Atlantic Ocean on the Corca Dhuibhne Peninsula in West Kerry, Ireland.
I am looking for dancers who are seeking a useful and friendly creative process that allows for conversations and creativity to flourish and where integrity and truthful communication are integral. Where steps appear naturally out of each dancer’s individual work. Where each dancer’s immediate and ancient history is given space. Where the work is conceived in relation to the other, responding to sensations and impetuses that come and go as each day unfolds.
Elements, energy, rhythm, repetition, simplicity, and music are valued to allow for good co-ordination and relaxation, which allows for a real engagement with the self and with the other artists sharing the adventure.
The eventual outcome will be accepted, celebrated and shared.
A work that is defiant in its response to selfishness, brutality, and greed, by how it is created and shared in a spirit of generosity, gentleness and empathy.
Michel Keegan-Dolan
To apply, please email workshops@teacdamsa.com with:
— A short biography
— A video link showcasing your work (Vimeo or YouTube preferred)
In addition to the above please send us a one-minute video of your dancing, preferably facing the camera, so we can see who you are as well as how you move. Should you feel inspired, please also include a short video of you speaking, singing or reading a text. From this process of selection, a small group of dancers will be invited to a workshop at our studio in May.
If you can do a little research about the company, the work we make and how we make it before applying that might be advantageous.
The feeling that a dancer can evoke for themselves and for the observer by their dancing, by the choice of music and by the way they work with that music, is important to the work I like to make. I’m interested in the nature of what is communicated and how conscious the dancer is of that communication.
This is a paid contract – with travel, food and accomodation also provided.
Application deadline: 6 April

I truly appreciate everyone taking the time to apply. While I may not be able to respond to each person, I’ll be reaching out to the selected dancers by 13 April.
