The Only Tune

2025
The Only Tune was part of a Triple Bill, called Marking Time. It was originally created in 2020 but was canceled due to the Covid pandemic and premiered in Sadler’s Wells in 2025.

Inspired by Nico Muhly and Sam Amidon’s reimagining of an ancient murder ballad, The Only Tune explores the collision of old and new. Rather than retelling the story, it creates a ritualistic event where eight dancers, the Britten Sinfonia and Sam Amidon come together on stage, drawing out the music’s dark beauty and moral undercurrents.

REVIEWS

In stark contrast, Keegan-Dolan’s theatrical approach in The Only Tune infuses dark humor and American folk elements… performed with singer Sam Amidon and the Britten Sinfonia dressed as skeletons… offering a captivating, surreal theatrical experience.
